What is Happy Science?

Happy Science is a universal religion based on faith in El Cantare, who is Buddha, God, the great consciousness of the universe. It was founded by Master Ryuho Okawa in Japan in 1986. Happy Science is also a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose aim is to achieve true happiness by deepening and widening our love, and to reach a higher level of enlightenment based on the teachings of truth by Master Ryuho Okawa.

By building a wonderful life, we spread our happiness to those around us and to society, with the goal of creating an ideal world on earth.

  • Attending weekly prayer services
  • Watching lecture videos at local branches
  • Hosting open public seminars
  • Attending international retreats

  • Supporting charity activities in Africa and Asia
  • Hosting “Friends Against Suicide Campaigns”
  • Hosting “Anti-Bullying Campaigns” for schools
  • Meeting soul-related friends from all over the world

How do I become a member?
Happy Science is a universal religion that is open to people of all backgrounds, whether Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish or Muslim. All are studying the universal teachings of Truth together as members.

To become a student or obtain “friendship” membership, please visit your nearest Happy Science Temple and request to complete a simple application form, asking for your name and contact information. You will then be given the complementary prayer book, “The Dharma of the Right Mind” to further your study.

(There are no membership fees of any kind, just voluntary gratitude donations)
